Baking Bread – Spelt Loaf

by Jenny Doran on May 30, 2018 No Comments

I got my recipe for a sour dough spelt loaf largely from this book which I purchased at the Red Beard Bakery in Trentham. I also found a big bag of wholemeal spelt flour there, but you don't need to travel all that way as it's easy to buy spelt flour in Melbourne. I was delighted when one of my first spelt loaves looked very like the one on … [Read more...] about Baking Bread – Spelt Loaf

Baking Bread

by Jenny Doran on April 30, 2018 3 Comments

I've been baking bread for over a year now. The picture above is of my latest effort; two basic sourdough loaves and a spelt loaf. The smell of baking bread is wonderful throughout the house, the loaves look terrific and taste delicious. This picture below is of my San Francisco Sour Dough, a famous sour dough recipe. These two are ciabatta … [Read more...] about Baking Bread

Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

There have been a few restaurants here over the years and we hope Ryne makes a success of a difficult site. We're happy to form the nucleus of an appreciative local … [Read more...] about Ryne

Igni

by Jenny Doran on December 7, 2017 No Comments

We had our second meal at Igni in Geelong in October. We took the train down, meeting up with friends en route. They joined us at Footscray. It was a fun way to travel. Better than driving. In Geelong we had time to check out a Fred Williams exhibition at the Geelong Art Gallery; the paintings of the You Yangs that catapulted him to fame. No photos … [Read more...] about Igni

Canberra Celebration

by Jenny Doran on July 27, 2017 1 Comment

We went to Canberra to celebrate, and for a whole week we did just that. We were there for a graduation and to catch up with Joe's old work colleagues. And for the eight days we were in residence at this delightful B'nB which was in a great location (in Dickson), had plenty of space, a comfortable bed and good shower. Very satisfactory. We … [Read more...] about Canberra Celebration
