We had intended coming to this gallery but thought time had got away from us. We're so glad we managed to fit it in. All of the galleries have been wonderful, including this one. It was designed by Bauhaus pioneer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and only reopened last year after a six year, $164 million (US) refurbishment. It has a very sleek exterior. … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty Three. Neue Nationalgalerie (22/10/22)

Berlin – Day Twenty Two. Mitte. Nobelhart & Schmutzig
Retracing our steps after our Museum Island visit I took this artistic shot of the cross on the cathedral lined up with the television tower. And took another picture of the Opera House, complete with Ukranian flag. And another. It is a beautiful building. Holds about 900 people, so very small in terms of theatres. And across the … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty Two. Mitte. Nobelhart & Schmutzig
Berlin – Day Twenty Two. Caspar David Friedrich & A Bit More Menzel. (21/10/22)
After the Pergamon we walked across to the Alte Nationalgalerie to see the works of Caspar David Friedrich. We'd been disappointed when on our first visit we discovered that the gallery that held his paintings was closed, so we bought this book. Berlin – Day Twenty Two. The Pergamon. (21/10/22)
Our second last day in Berlin - it both seems like we've been here ages and also that time has flown! Strange. Joe and I had been … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty Two. The Pergamon. (21/10/22)
Berlin – Day Twenty One. A Market. A Meeting. Afternoon Tea. A Concert. (21/10/22)
Another beautiful day in Berlin so off to explore Käthe Kollwitz Park in Prenzlauer Berg. We'd driven past this on our first tour of Berlin with Janna. We took the train to Prenzlauer Allee and then walked to the park. It's a lovely area, but as ever in Berlin there's a grim history around every corner. This lovely structure, the Prenzlauer … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty One. A Market. A Meeting. Afternoon Tea. A Concert. (21/10/22)
Berlin – Day Twenty. Volkspark Friedrichshain. Trippen. Bach Concert. (19/10/22)
Another beautiful day in Berlin. The three of us caught the train to Landsberger Allee. The public transport here in Berlin is very good, although we are surprised by people drinking alcohol on it. They also take their very well trained dogs on both trains and trams. Our destination Volkspark Friedrichshain. There was a bit of what I call scungy … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty.
