Road Trip: Lake St Clair To Queenstown

by Jenny Doran on December 18, 2019 No Comments

On our second full day (but third all up) at the Pump House, the 13th of November, heavy rain was forecast to last all day so we drove to Queenstown through staggeringly beautiful country. Rainforests, meadows of rust coloured sedge, winding up and down and between mountains. All through pouring rain. On the way we passed a number of short walks … [Read more...] about Road Trip: Lake St Clair To Queenstown

Walking Around Lake Saint Clair

by Jenny Doran on December 18, 2019 No Comments

Day two of our stay at the Pump House saw us head off for breakfast over the causeway. As we soon discovered always an invigorating start to the day. Over breakfast we decided to walk around the lake to the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre. As a way of understanding our immediate surroundings. We stayed the night in this, very luxurious apartment. They're called pavilions and are all named after an influential Australian artist or architect. We were in Walter, named … [Read more...] about Mona Museum

The Silo Trail

From Sea Lake we embarked on the Silo Trail. I've been on it before with my siblings and have written about that trip here. But Joe hadn't seen it so a road trip was in order. Here's the map. We intended starting from Patchewollock ,which we hadn't reached on my earlier trip, and then going down the trail. But before recording that, here are … [Read more...] about The Silo Trail

Back To The Mallee

by Jenny Doran on November 24, 2019 No Comments

I'd promised my Aunt we'd visit her in Swan Hill some time this year, and we managed to do so in November. She welcomed us with a three course meal. It was the day before the Melbourne Cup and she had laid out all her Fascinators for women from her retirement village to come and choose from for an outing on Cup Day to the local bowling club. So we … [Read more...] about Back To The Mallee
