At Berkely 2 stars. Would have given it four if every scene had been halved making it a two hour instead of four hour experience. Doing so Halving would have resulted in the same film – which was effectively an ad for Berkely. We sat in on various tutorials and lectures, staff meetings, leadership group meetings, student protests (ineffective – not as good as ours say the baby boom leaders). We tour the grounds and look lovingly at different buildings around the campus and see one being built. All very interesting but – so what? Had it targeted on the funding cuts and steps taken to manage the impact on the university it would have been a far more powerful film. But we only got glimpses of that in passing. A pity.
Out 1: Noli Me Tangere Episodes 1 to 8 4 stars. Great experience – all twelve and a half hours of it. Loved the period detail, seventies clothes in particular, sense of place in various locations around Paris and especially beautiful seaside shots, great dialogue (would have loved to understand the French rather than having to rely on subtitles) and (finally) understood the importance of the improvised theatrics. Great.
