More Culture in Canberra

by Jenny Doran on March 25, 2020 No Comments

We went to the Australian National Portrait Gallery while in Canberra in March. There were two two exhibitions on show. The first was of finalists in the inaugural, 2020 Darling Portrait Prize sponsored by the Australian National Portrait Gallery. The prize is named after L. Gordon Darling, the Founding Patron of the Gallery and the winner receives … [Read more...] about More Culture in Canberra

Matisse & Picasso

by Jenny Doran on March 23, 2020 3 Comments

We were lucky enough to get to this exhibition which was on at the National Gallery of Australia from 13 December 2019 to 13 April 2020. It's been unlucky; first with bushfires forcing closure and now Covid-19. So, we count ourselves lucky. They take off from the lawns of Old Parliament … [Read more...] about Canberra Balloon Spectacular

It looked a bit like a mega city apartment block outside our front door. But we had great views from our balcony; here's the lake and National Museum of Australia. To the left we had a view of the … [Read more...] about Canberra Visit

Plants In Tasmania

Some of them had information boards close by although sometimes it was difficult to match up trees and names. Like a lot of native Australian plants you have to look closely to really appreciate the beauty of some of these. Some of the photos … [Read more...] about Plants In Tasmania

Back To Hobart

by Jenny Doran on December 18, 2019 No Comments

Our last day at the Pump House, on the 14th of November 2019, began in spectacular fashion with this rainbow as seen from the Shore House. As you can see the weather had finally cleared up for our drive back to Hobart. It came and went over the lake - close to the water - for a long time. A fitting farewell. On the drive back we decided to have … [Read more...] about Back To Hobart
