Adelaide Scenes

by Jenny Doran on April 15, 2026 No Comments

This is just a quick blog about things we did in Adelaide in addition to the Adelaide Festival (which I've written about here). First up, out of deference to Joe's newfound interest in family history, we ventured out to Norwood in search of the church where his great great grandparents were married. It turned out to be this rather grand … [Read more...] about Adelaide Scenes

Adelaide Arts Festival 2026

by Jenny Doran on March 31, 2026 3 Comments

We flew to Adelaide on Saturday the 28th of February for my first Adelaide Arts Festival in years. A decision made when I discovered French actress Isabelle Huppert would be appearing in a one woman play. Over eight days we saw seven shows. Flown from paddle steamers and … [Read more...] about More From Mildura

Joe and I and the family had visited here for a couple of days on the eve of the 1999 State election. We were interested in seeing whether much had changed - and found the essence of the place remained the same. The road out … [Read more...] about Lake Mungo

A Slow Train to Mildura

by Jenny Doran on November 25, 2025 6 Comments

At our neighbour’s suggestion we joined them on a slow train journey at the end of October. I’d never heard of this volunteer organisation full of rail enthusiasts who take vintage trains around Victoria on the old standard gauge lines no longer in use by Vline. Their website is here . We were travelling on The Vinelander which is the train I used … [Read more...] about A Slow Train to Mildura
