A quick post about the last three books I've read this year and then my list of best books. I loved Grief Is The Thing With Feathers. Poetical, magical. Beautiful writing. It takes a while to realise what the author's doing. It's a novel but reads like a memoir. I had to check it wasn't a memoir. So real. Another book about dealing with grief - … [Read more...] about Best Books 2015

Melbourne Cinematheque

Three full length feature films: The Desolate One, The Restless One, The Enchanted One. Showing us life in Portugal in the present day through a number of different stories. Here is a review that explains the conceit. An endurance … [Read more...] about MIFF2015 Finale
MIFF 2015 Summary
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved each of these films and strongly recommend them if you get the chance. An A tear-jerker! The emotion creeps up on you as three lonely characters converge in a red bean pancake outlet. The little old woman who inveigles her way into the life of the pancake seller - teaching him how to make real red bean paste (the 'an' of the … [Read more...] about MIFF 2015 Summary
