On my final day I had a true festival experience, sitting through the three parts of Miguel Gomes Arabian Nights. Three full length feature films: The Desolate One, The Restless One, The Enchanted One. Showing us life in Portugal in the present day through a number of different stories.
Here is a review that explains the conceit. An endurance test of sorts, there were spectacular moments in each of the three as well as some tortuously slow bits. I’m pleased to have seen it. And feel I know more about Portugal as a result.
