I have to remove some photos from my iPhone so have decided to transfer my many pictures of flowers from the garden to my blog. Which will also allow me to track progress from year to year. My annual observations shall start from here.
Roses in the garden alongside the south fence, photographed October – December 2020.
This is an apricot, many-headed David Austin next to Just Joey.
This shows the nature of the plant better – staked up next to the tomatoes.
This one is in the middle of the bed beside the owl; it has a wonderful, musky perfume.
Another pink one, alongside the one above, also with a beautiful perfume.
I don’t have a photo in situ of my red striped rose, that has been in this garden for longer than any of these ones, but which until last year was a very poor producer of blooms. But here it is, along with its neighbours, in a vase.
These two are in the middle bed where the pistachio used to be – next to the birdbath.
Here is the one on the left up closer and before it has opened right up – beautiful.
This one was not very prolific, but has a wonderful colour, and perfume. Here it’s in a vase.
I only have photos of my prolific Graham Thompson in vases. Still beautiful. But no perfume.
And here is one of my favourite things in the garden, bought for me by my mother on one of our very last excursions together which was to the Dandenongs. And which every year I think has died only to see it return to life and present me with this single peony rose bloom.
All in all 2020 was a great year for roses – I am looking forward to even more blooms at the endd of this year as we’ve had lots of rain.
