I enjoy making up vases. I do so mostly for our bedroom and the living room; occasionally including the back room, my study and the front room.
Here are some of my vases of roses. I like to photograph them up close – this one perhaps too close.
These are two David Austin roses.
I’m not sure that sticking single roses in a vase counts. This one has the strongest perfume!

I like to photograph my bedroom vases in the early morning light – early enough at around 8am.
And here is a vase full of roses from Mary and Kevin’s garden. Fran tells me it is the Madam de Maison rose.
I love vases of gardenias in the bedroom, where they perfume the whole room.
The children gave me this vase for my birthday – I love it. Makes for dramatic flower arrangements.
I don’t often put fuschias in vases, but they survive for a reasonable time.
I’ve had plenty of camellias this year, though they can be tricky to fit into a vase correctly.
Here’s my latest – hellebores and pieris japonica; I’m interested to know how long they’ll both last.
And here is a vase of hyacinths – I love them for their perfume, but they are hard to arrange!
