After the Pergamon we walked across to the Alte Nationalgalerie to see the works of Caspar David Friedrich. We'd been disappointed when on our first visit we discovered that the gallery that held his paintings was closed, so we bought this book. I have always loved the picture on the cover; The Wanderer above a Sea of Mist 1818. It was on the cover … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty Two. Caspar David Friedrich & A Bit More Menzel. Berlin – Day Twenty Two. The Pergamon. (21/10/22)
Our second last day in Berlin - it both seems like we've been here ages and also that time has flown! Strange. We all set out for Museum Island but Clare left something at home and so returned intending to catch us at the Pergamon later but by the time she got back there were big queues so went our separate ways for the day. Joe and I had been … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty Two. The Pergamon. (21/10/22)
Berlin – Day Twenty One. A Market. A Meeting. Afternoon Tea. A Concert. (21/10/22)
Another beautiful day in Berlin so off to explore Käthe Kollwitz Park in Prenzlauer Berg. We'd driven past this on our first tour of Berlin with Janna. They also take their very well trained dogs on both trains and trams. Our destination Volkspark Friedrichshain. There was a bit of what I call scungy … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Twenty. Berlin – Day Nineteen. Hamburger Bahnhof Museum. Tim Raue. (18/10/22)
We woke to a rain - our second rainy day in Berlin and forecast to be heavy and to last all day. A good day to be in a gallery. Clare had really enjoyed the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum für Gegenwart (Modern Art Gallery) when she was last in Berlin so we decided to go there. We caught the train into the Berlin Hauptbahnhof - the main Berlin station, a … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Nineteen. Hamburger Bahnhof Museum. Tim Raue. (18/10/22)
Berlin – Day Eighteen. Babylon Berlin Walk. (17/10/22)
I think they should market a Babylon Berlin Walk - I'd like to check out all of the places used in that show. In the event Joe organised a walk with at least one site that featured in the show. Here he is planning it. While I write my blog. This is how we spend most mornings on our holidays together. This day Clare had gone into the … [Read more...] about Berlin – Day Eighteen.
