MIFF 2021 is over - another festival completely online, to the great disappointment of the organisers. We still threw ourselves into watching as many as we could - ending up with 35 for me and 36 for Joe. Not all of the movies scheduled for the cinemas made it to MIFF Play but there were some very good ones all the same. This is the order in which … [Read more...] about MIFF 2021 – Five & Four Star Films

Wong Kar Wai
Back in February we enjoyed a mini film festival at ACMI, Love & Neon: The Cinema of Wong Kar Wai. As advertised here on the wall of the Tinpot Cafe. MIFF 2019 – Five Star Films
MIFF 2020 is almost upon us; although this year, thanks to Covid-19 it's going to be very different. One of the things I've always loved about MIFF is experiencing a film in a large, crowded theatre. It's terrific being with up to a thousand other people enjoying a story. That's not going to happen this year. We will all be watching films on-line … [Read more...] about MIFF 2019 – Five Star Films
Virtual Cinémathèque
Weekly Cinematique screenings were abandoned as soon as the restriction on large gatherings was put in place in March. But the clever people at ACMI were quick off the mark introducing on the 19th of March the Virtual Cinématèque providing screenings we could access in our homes. They put together a terrific range of films announcing on Twitter … [Read more...] about Virtual Cinémathèque
