I read Anjelica Huston’s recently released autobiography:
over my brief holiday (just public holidays). It was okay. An easy read and well written. Interesting people and places and events. I had previously read her sister’s. Which I wrote about here.
The period covered in both books is basically the same. Mostly about their childhood in Ireland, and this is all very similar. Anjelica’s finishes just as she catches up with Allegra again in Los Angeles after her early career as a model finishes. Allegra’s benefited from the mystery about her parentage – which from Anjelica’s perspective was not a mystery at all. Anjelica thanks Allegra for encouraging her to write. It’s nice to think they’re close.
Their’s was a financially rich but emotionally impoverished upbringing on the strength of these two books. Allegra covered some of Anjelica’s relationships with famous men – Ryan O’Neill and Jack Nicholson – and I would be interested in hearing about those from Anjelica’s point of view so I will look out for the next volume.
