This is my first blog about MIFF 2019. Starting with a complete overview of my ratings, with D indicating documentaries. I'll move on to more detailed critiques of the films over time. Unusually some of these are already on general release. Normally it takes much longer for instance the wonderful documentary The Eulogy is only now being shown … [Read more...] about MIFF 2019 – Overview

Opera, Concerts and a Play: July – August 2019
I haven't been blogging about all the cultural activities we've been enjoying over the past few months, for reasons that I'll outline in a separate blog. Hans is known for his Australian landscapes and I'm not that keen on them but this exhibition … [Read more...] about Father & Daughter: The Heysens at the NGV

Some of the overseas authors attending the Sydney Writers Festival which goes from 29 April to 5 May were brought down to Melbourne to share their thoughts on books and writing. It's a great idea, given how far these guests have come. Some were … [Read more...] about Writers Galore But Is It Mayhem?
